Entering college can be very overwhelming for some. Fitting in, succeeding academically, taking care of yourself and countless other obstacles make the first few weeks of college very emotionally strenuous. Here are some mental tips to remember as you get closer and closer to your first day.
1. Be confidant in who you are. Look in the mirror and know what you want, and do what you want. Don't let other people have an impact on your goals in life. Don't let one person put the slightest amount of discouragement in your head about who you are.
2. Organization is "KEY" to success in college. During the first week of school, you should collect all of your syllabuses for each class. Either put the important dates, and assignments in to your planner, or you can also add test dates or assignments in to Gmail, outlook or other email services to remind you. It might sound funny but, keeping your room clean, will provide you with more time to either study, party or do whatever you want. You wont have to waste time cleaning up your room.
3. Priorities; which were mentioned in point two; you should try and master a list of your priorities. You want to be able to determine what in your life is important. Always remember you are in school for your education and to take a thing or two away from the academic world, and translate that in to your life once you are working. Partying should not come between your academics.
4. Make a name for yourself. Think about what you want to accomplish in life and how you want college to help get you there. This can be as simple as maintaining the grades to be accepted into medical school or being acknowledged as an up and coming Comedian.
The World Wide Web has become one useful tool for an aspiring musician, artists, actor, or even impersonator. Sites like Youtube , Funny or Die, or LoadnVote make it even easier for you to be found. Some people even use Yahoo to be found.
