Students often waste a great deal of money and time attending regional community colleges to complete basic general education requirements before enrolling at more prestigious, higher-quality colleges and universities. For many students, this tedious (and frequently frustrating and costly) process could be avoided entirely by taking CLEP (College Level Examination Program) assessments to meet these general education requirements.
CLEP exams are designed to challenge the student to prove their knowledge in a specific area of study (usually to show that they possess knowledge equivalent to that of a student who has taken a one-semester course in the subject area). CLEP tests are offered on a number of topics, including Business, English, Foreign Languages, Science, Mathematics, and Social Sciences- all subjects of courses generally required as part of a college liberal arts core program.
Service members can take CLEP tests free of charge on military installations. CLEP exams are also administered at 1,300 college test centers. Military personnel will be responsible for paying the administration fee at college test centers, but the examination fee will be paid for by DANTES.
CLEP is an efficient way to apply the knowledge gained through on-the-job military training, independent study and life experiences toward earning a college degree. While a typical college semester lasts for 18 weeks, credit for a full semester can be earned simply by taking a CLEP exam. CLEP credits are earned by successfully passing a CLEP test. A CLEP exam is typically 90 minutes long, and will have between 90 and 140 questions, most of which are multiple choice.
CLEP exams include both General and Subject tests. General examinations include English composition, humanities, college mathematics, social science, history and natural sciences. Subject examinations include a number of exams in business, composition and literature, government, language, history, mathematics, natural sciences, psychology and social sciences. CLEP has designed these exams to replace many of the general education requirements for a college degree, it is possible to greatly speed up the education process and get ahead in college.
All our economies are based on the use of primary and secondary energies. Without different forms of energy, no machinery could exist in industry, commerce, transportation, nor even in the home. Our modern world would simply not exist without energy.
